I am so excited to share a new Teacher Appreciation Craft for Back to School. As you may know, my mom and dad are both teachers – as a teacher’s kid I recall all of the efforts, joys, frustrations and funny stories that my parents shared as I was growing up and even more once I moved away for school.
Making crafts for Back to School is so fun for me – I basically dream up something I think my mom would have loved to get as a teacher. My idea today incorporates 2 dies by Laura Kelly Designs for Sizzix, words of appreciation and hand written sentiments. Here are the Sizzix dies:
Sizzix Bigz Die – Apple #2, click here for link. (Retail: $19.99)
Sizzix Bigz Die – Badges, click here for link. (Retail: $19.99)
Here are the additional craft supplies for this project:
Sizzix Big Shot and cutting pads
Cardstock paper in red, kraft and white. To make the folded card (Size A2) you need to cut, and then fold in half, a piece of paper that is 5.5 by 8.5.
Glitter cardstock (I used gold and I got this at Joann’s)
Aleene’s Turbo Tacky Glue
Foam adhesive dots
Markers in various colors
Burlap twine
Teacher Thank You Cards with Laura Kelly Designs for Sizzix
Step 1: Select your papers and created your folded card. ***IMPORTANT***: Once your card is ready to run through the Sizzix Big Shot, you need to make sure that your card does not cut along one side of the apple die. I was able to run 2 cards (= 4 pieces of card stock) at once! You can also cut your glitter cardstock for your gold stems, you only need a small piece of paper to run through for the stem.
Step 2: Once you have your cards, now you can cut your pieces from the Badges Die Cut with white or another colorful piece of paper.
Step 3: Use your markers to make your center/badge die cuts awesome and give a shout out to your teacher with some sentiments of appreciation. What is really neat about the badges dies is that there is a dotted line/texture that is part of the die design, when I showed my friend this card idea she commented “I like the texture.” I used these sentiments for my cards:
- Best Teacher Ever
- You Rock
- Thank You!
- I am thankful.
Step 4: Adhere the gold stems and the center/badge die cuts. For the gold stems, I adhered them with Aleene’s Turbo Tacky Glue and for the center/badge I used foam adhesive dots.
Step 5: For the “Best Teacher Ever” card – I added a small burlap bow and adhered the box with a dot of Aleene’s Turbo Tacky Glue. You can also add a special stamp to the back of your card – I used my Expressionery Stamp and made a card for my nephew to give to his teacher. As you know, I love all the possibilities of Expressionery Stamps. I hope you enjoyed this Teacher Appreciation Craft for Back to School.
