Here I am with my dad at the recent unveiling of the Cesar Chavez statue in Downtown Riverside. Dad visited me a couple of days before the unveiling to help me with my house and we got to hang out while he was here. It was great quality time with my dad. He is an amazing dad and role model to me.
One of the best memories I have of my dad is when I passed the Bar Exam and I called him to let him know. I said “Dad, I passed!” to which he responded “I know.” And I think to myself “huh?” and I said “How did you know?” and he said “Mija, you studied your ass off.” Which is absolutely true! It’s a moment that I will just never forget.
Which leads me to show you also about the custom order that I am finishing up this weekend. The background on this project is that a colleague asked me for help to create a scrapbook that he would fill up with letters from his grown children. He told me that he asked his children to – rather than buying him a present at Christmas – write him a letter. The scrapbook will contain these letters that tell stories of good memories with Dad. Here is the cover page of this custom scrapbook:
This project was so fun and it really meant a lot to reflect on the words that come to mind when thinking of a father.
Please comment on a good word to describe your dad, husband, grandpa or any father-figure in your life. I would love to hear what you think of my “Dad’s Stories” custom scrapbook too!
